COVID-19 vaccine clinic in Detroit aims to educate people, increase vaccination rate

A new COVID-19 vaccine clinic in Detroit is giving people even more incentives to join the fight against COVID-19.

The clinic is being hosted by the Detroit Association of Black Organizations. It’s happening at Wayne County Community College District’s Downtown campus on Fort St., just east of Detroit’s Financial District.

‘The difference between life and death.’ Black leaders step up vaccine campaigns as Delta variant hits the unvaccinated

Jeniffer Hall was hesitant to get vaccinated until early July when a Detroit pastor convinced her that she needed the shot to protect herself and her brother — who she has cared for since he suffered an aneurysm — from Covid-19.

After surviving Covid-19 herself in 2020, Hall said she decided to follow the science instead of listening to her adult children who say the US government can’t be trusted.

Detroit continues to push for its residents to get vaccinated

The city of Detroit continues to battle coronavirus as city officials push for more people to get vaccinated.

As of Thursday, the city’s vaccination rates are at only 21%, about 10% less than Michigan’s vaccination rate.

Death toll continues to rise

Detroit Rev. Horace Sheffield III shared what the toughest parts of his battle with coronavirus (COVID-19) have been.

Sheffield, 65, tested positive for the illness about two weeks ago.

He said the worst parts about COVID-19 are that he doesn’t know if his health could take a turn for the worse and the news he keeps hearing about the virus is heartbreaking.
